AVBS PRIVACY POLICY
The security of the personal information that you provide to us is extremely important and we are committed to maintaining the confidentiality and security of the personal information that we hold.
Our aim is to ensure that at a minimum we handle information in accordance with our obligations under the Privacy Act 1988.
How do we collect personal information about you?
We may collect personal information directly from you or in some cases from a third party where AVBS has a strategic alliance to provide services to association members.
AVBS collects, uses and discloses personal information to process your request in relation to your car buying requirements and to meet the requirements of the legislation associated with the supply of a motor vehicle and related goods. Associated services will include the provision of warranty, insurance and registration.
Is your information disclosed to a third party?
AVBS will need to disclose your personal information to VicRoads, and any other organisation that requires your details in order to effect the transfer registration of your vehicle. If you apply for finance in connection with the purchase of a vehicle AVBS must provide your personal information to the financier for the purpose of the financing arrangements. We will not disclose your personal information to anyone else unless required to by statute.
What happens if you choose not to provide or allow us to disclose the information?
You are not obliged to give us personal information however, if you choose not to provide the relevant details we may not be able to provide you with the services you seek.
If you do not want your personal information disclosed to a third party please notify us.
Access to personal information
Individuals are entitled to request access to personal information that we hold about them. Access will be provided within one calendar month of the request.
Storage
We take all reasonable steps to protect the personal information that we hold. This includes appropriate measures to protect electronic materials and materials stored and generated in hard copy.
